The Exercise Science Center is one of the most advanced privately owned exercise research facilities in the country. In business since 1987, the Exercise Science Center has performed over 40,000 fitness assessments, provided consultation for businesses and municipalities all over the world, and has developed and patented some of the most advanced technologies used in the field of Exercise Science today.
The mission of the Exercise Science Center is to provide affordable exercise services to enhance the quantity and quality of life for its clientele. With a fully equipped exercise and testing facility in Fircrest Washington, the Exercise Science Center has accumulated the largest privately owned database of fitness assessments in the Northwest. The expertise in fitness testing has allowed the Exercise Science Center to create their very own techniques and procedures to obtain highly reproducible and valid exercise testing information.
Examples include the generation of superior population specific body fat equations and standards, algorithms for allometric scaling of metabolic parameters used in testing subjects of varied body dimensions, hydration technology that can optimize physical performance, strength and balance exercise program development, carbohydrate monitors that will estimate the amount and glycemic index value for optimal replacement of stores. The Exercise Science Center is also a national leader in the physical assessment and recommendation for hiring of firefighters, police officers, and public utility personnel.
The laboratory contains the most advance exercise testing equipment available today with the capabilities of respiratory gas analysis, exercise and resting PC based electrocardiography, pulmonary function testing, impedance cardiography, dual force platform studies, 3-D video analysis, electromyography, blood and urine testing, advanced anthropometry, and scores of various physiological and exercise assessments.
The building is approximately 3800 square feet, and is fully accommodating to the handicapped. Ample parking is always available within 100 feet of the building entrance with no stairs to negotiate.
